Regular Practice is the Primary Pre-Requisite for success in Yoga! Yoga practice has to become a habitual practice. at the beginnings, if you can dedicate 15 minutes of your time for Yoga Practices, it is a good start. Fix a specific place and time to do your personal Yoga Sadhana. Ex., in the morning or evening. The place and time will remind you of your Practice.
It’s advisable to wait for at least three hours after consuming a heavy meal, such as lunch, and around two hours after a light meal, like breakfast, before engaging in asana practice.
You can wait until your breath has return to normal, free your hands and legs of any tension and then consume food. You can take approximately 15 minutes after finishing your asana practice.
The duration of your yoga session should be adjusted to your schedule, with longer sessions generally being more beneficial. It’s crucial not to set overly ambitious goals initially. Consistency is key—opt for a practice duration that you can easily commit to every day without fail. For instance, consistent 15-minute sessions daily are preferable to sporadic hour-long sessions. Setting realistic goals and sticking to them diligently is paramount to long-term success in your yoga journey.
If you’re feeling physically or mentally fatigued before commencing your yoga session, whether due to office work or any other reason, it’s beneficial to begin with relaxation, such as in shavasana, until your fatigue subsides. During your asana practice, you can integrate relaxation as needed, especially when feeling tired or experiencing an elevated breathing rate. A productive asana session typically concludes with shavasana or yoga nidra to relax the stretched muscles, normalize breathing, and soothe the mind.
Ideally, practicing asanas is best done early in the morning before breakfast. However, evening sessions before dinner or midday sessions before lunch can also be suitable alternatives.
